In this Journal of Clinical Oncology publication, Dr. Sherrif Ibrahim helps lead a major clinical study on skin cancer.

He and a team of global experts are testing low-dose injections as an alternative to surgery for early-stage cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (CSCC) – one of the most common skin cancers. The treatment is especially promising for patients with tumors in sensitive areas like the face, hands, or legs, where surgery may be invasive or leave visible scarring.

The study is well underway and planning to enroll over 350 patients across North America, Europe, and Australia. With Dr. Ibrahim serving as one of the principal investigators, this effort reflects not only leadership here in Rochester, but meaningful influence on the global direction of non-surgical skin cancer care.

If the trial proves successful, it could mark a major shift in how early skin cancer is treated by replacing the scalpel with a simple, in-office injection.

For patients considering their options or looking for thoughtful, cutting-edge care, Dr. Ibrahim’s work places Rochester at the center of what’s next in skin cancer treatment.

If you have been diagnosed with squamous cell cancer of the head, neck, hands, or shin you may be a good candidate for the trial. Please contact us.
